What Are the Differences Between Commercial and Regular Display Screens?

There are differences in the design concept of appearance between commercial display screens and ordinary displays

Ordinary displays are designed to be as fashionable as possible in appearance. The biggest difference between the two is in appearance design. As the target consumers of ordinary displays are mostly individuals or households, TV manufacturers often make ordinary displays more fashionable by adding piano paint, transparent acrylic materials, and "one-line drawing" concepts to match the home style and please the consumers' eyes.

In contrast, commercial LCD display is used more often in public places to display information, so there is no need to design them too fancy. Adding these fashionable elements only increases the cost but has no meaning. In addition, a simple body will make the display product more conducive to maintenance and conservation.

The practical design concept of commercial display screens is different from that of ordinary displays due to different application scenarios

Some commercial display screens often work in relatively "harsh" working environments for long periods of time. Therefore, the quality of the LCD backlight source used in digital sigange displays is usually subject to stricter screening. In addition, the circuit design of its body and the material requirements of the border are also more demanding. In some special environments, large-screen displays also require related optimizations for the environment.

For example, in a high-brightness outdoor environment, in order to allow people to see the screen clearly, such display products will use a brighter backlight source. In addition, in areas with very low temperatures, these displays will add some special equipment to maintain normal operation.

Therefore, compared with ordinary display products, commercial display screens are more durable and more "sturdy" in response to customer needs, and they will also adopt special functions (such as high brightness, adding heating equipment) to adapt to the actual environment, of course, these require a lot of cost. There is a huge difference in the number and types of interfaces between commercial display screens and ordinary displays

Due to docking requirements, commercial display screens generally use industrial ports, such as RGB BNC color difference with self-locking mechanism interface and professional DVI-D video interface, etc. In addition, commercial display screens can use S232 serial port control, and there are more than 200 open control passwords that can adapt to various industrial environments. It is convenient for when using multiple display devices, such as multi touch kiosk and multi touch video wall, and all display devices can be controlled without a remote control. It can also assist with timing start, delay start, machine self-test and other industrial requirements.

Of course, many ordinary display devices also have RS-232 control ports, but their uses are basically only for controlling lights and cannot achieve industrial control.

There is a certain difference in stability between commercial display screens and ordinary displays

Commercial display screen products usually need to operate continuously for 24 hours to meet the needs of displaying various information, and the usage environment is much harsher than that of civil display devices, which puts higher demands on product performance. Compared with ordinary display devices, in design, commercial displays have much higher current, power consumption, temperature and anti-electric interference, anti-electric shock capacity and margin, as well as average trouble-free use time. Also, commercial display screens must use fully shielded metal casing to ensure electromagnetic compatibility and interference performance. In terms of component selection, the components used in commercial display screens have higher voltage resistance, current, temperature, humidity and other characteristics than those used in TVs.

In addition, the requirements for installation, commissioning, especially the aging process of components and the whole machine are also higher for commercial display screens. The whole machine aging of ordinary display equipment is usually about 8 hours at room temperature with electricity flowing on the assembly line, while the whole machine aging of commercial display screens requires more than 24 hours of electrical aging in a high-temperature and high-humidity closed environment to ensure the stability of the whole machine.
